The Commission helps secure stable funding for legal service providers so that they have the resources and staff necessary to serve the legal needs of low-income Texans. In addition to our work advocating for state and federal funding, the Commission raises funds with the help of the legal community and the general public.
On April 30, 2019, the Texas Access to Justice Commission and the State Bar of Texas hosted the 10th Annual Champions of Justice Gala Benefiting Veterans at the AT&T Conference Center in Austin, TX. So far this year, there are more than 340 Champion of Justice Society members. In 2018, Society members contributed more than $150,000 in support of access to justice, with Guardian members ensuring deferred revenue for future years to support legal aid. Together, these Champions of Justice fund the equivalent of more than three full-time legal aid staff attorneys. Our Champion of Justice Society has four giving levels, and membership is on a calendar-year basis. More »

Once a year, as part of dues renewal with the State Bar of Texas, we ask Texas attorneys to donate $150 to the Justice for All Campaign. The 2018 Justice for All Campaign raised more than $1.3 million from 8 percent of licensed Texas attorneys. If every Texas attorney gave the suggested $150, giving would total nearly $15 million.
