The Commission helps secure stable funding for legal service providers so that they have the resources and staff necessary to serve the legal needs of low-income Texans. In addition to our work advocating for state and federal funding, the Commission raises funds with the help of the legal community and the general public.
On Wednesday, May 3, 2017, the Commission, with its co-sponsor, the State Bar of Texas, will host the annual Champions of Justice Gala Benefiting Veterans, at the AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center, in Austin. More »
So far this year, there are 338 Champion of Justice Society members. The Society contributed more than $160,000 in support of access to justice,with another $36,000 in promised contributions for future years. Together, these Champions of Justice fund the equivalent of more than three full-time legal aid staff attorneys. Once a year, as part of dues renewal with the State Bar of Texas, we ask Texas attorneys to donate $150 to the Justice for All Campaign. This year’s campaign raised more than $1.3 million from 8 percent of licensed Texas attorneys. If every Texas attorney gave the suggested $150, giving would total nearly $15 million. More »
